Peter Teo
Peter's dance career is one of numerous and diverse achievements indeed. After graduating from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) with a Diploma in Dance, he received a Ballet Soloist Scholarship to study at the renowned Ajkun Ballet Theatre in New York, USA. His constant efforts have seen him taking to the world stage with ease, performing in countries such as the USA, China, Japan, Korea and Malaysia, and with big names like Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, 5566, Jeff Chang and Xiao Xiao
His relentless spirit and never-ending fervor sees him pushing the limits on a daily basis and constantly seeking to improve himself.
He has been trained in different genres of which his most adept includes Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Latin and Ballroom. He has choreographed for dance groups such as NUS Dance Blast!, NUS Dance Synergy; NTU Halls, National Junior College, Anderson Junior College, Nanyang Polytechnic, People’s Association Talent Group, as well as artistes such as Derrick MacDonald (UK), Xiao Xiao and Fan Yi Cheng amongst others.
Most laudable is perhaps the effort Peter puts in to develop the local scene and the next generation of dancers through his activism and tutelage of numerous students. He co-founded multi-award winning Hip Hop team ‘Lil' White Ridin' Hoods’ (World Cyber Game Dance Competition 2005 Champion, Dance Works 2005 Champion, Dance Works 2006 Runners Up, NTU Impresario Competition 2005 & 2006 Champions, Funkamania XI 2005 Runners Up), Fast Forward Modern Jazz Group, La Ballroom En Masse (Social & Ballroom club), as well as NUS Team VivaLatiNUS.
Currently the Program Leader of Dance Arts Ballet Scholarship and Instructor for Singapore Institute of Management (SIM)’s Dance Art (Contemporary & Jazz dance club), Peter has also set up a Jazz group, Soulz Jazz, in late 2010. Amidst all his artistic and administrative commitments, he continues to participate in dance competitions and performances locally and abroad, adding to his long list of accolades in a wide variety of dance genres.
